Ovation of the Seas Ship Review

We sailed aboard Ovation of the Seas on a 5 night Cabo Overnight itinerary, and it reminded us why the Quantum Class is one of our favorites in the Royal Caribbean fleet. Ovation combines innovative attractions, excellent entertainment, and a wide variety of dining options with a layout that never feels overwhelming. Whether you're cruising for adventure, relaxation, or family fun, Ovation offers something for everyone.

Dining

Dining was one of the highlights of our cruise. We enjoyed many of the complimentary venues, including the Main Dining Room and Windjammer Marketplace, where the food and service were consistently excellent.

For specialty dining, Chops Grille was our favorite, offering an entertaining experience and outstanding food. We also enjoyed Amber and Oak Pub, Jamie's Italian, and the variety of casual dining options available throughout the ship. No matter where we ate, the quality exceeded our expectations, and there was enough variety that every meal felt different.

Cabins

We stayed in a Balcony Stateroom, which offered plenty of storage and a comfortable layout. The cabin was well designed, making it easy to unpack and settle in for the week. The private balcony was the perfect place to enjoy morning coffee, watch sailaways, and take in the beautiful ocean views along the Mexican coastline.

Entertainment

Entertainment on Ovation of the Seas was outstanding. The ship features impressive production shows in the Royal Theater, live music throughout the ship, comedians, game shows, and themed parties that kept guests entertained every evening.

One of the highlights of the Quantum Class is Two70®, where technology and live performers come together for a unique entertainment experience unlike anything you'll find on most cruise ships. We also enjoyed spending time watching live music in the lounges and taking in the lively atmosphere around the Royal Esplanade.

Pools

Ovation offers a great mix of pool experiences. The indoor Solarium provides a peaceful adults-only retreat that's perfect regardless of the weather, while the outdoor family pool is a fun gathering place on sunny sea days.

For those looking for even more excitement, the ship also features the FlowRider® surf simulator, giving guests the chance to test their surfing skills.

Spa

The Vitality Spa is a relaxing place to unwind after a day in port. The spa offers massages, facials, salon services, and a thermal suite for guests looking to recharge. The staff was friendly, and the facilities were clean, modern, and inviting. I had my hair shampooed and styled.

Bars

Ovation features a great selection of bars and lounges. One of our favorite spots was the Bionic Bar, where robotic bartenders create custom cocktails. We also enjoyed the Schooner Bar, Vintages, and relaxing with a drink while taking in the incredible views from Two70.

  • Outstanding entertainment, including Two70.

Cons

  • Some of the most popular attractions require reservations and can fill quickly.
  • Outdoor pool deck can become busy on warm sea days.
  • Fewer waterslides and thrill attractions than Icon or Oasis Class ships.

Overall Rating: 4.6/5 ⭐

Would we sail again? Absolutely! Ovation of the Seas offers an outstanding combination of entertainment, dining, innovative attractions, and excellent service. Whether you're sailing to Mexico, Alaska, or beyond, it's a ship we would gladly cruise on again.
